APRIL WINE IN CONCERT
Weir Rockin 2007
Weir Baseball Field, Upper Sackville, Nova Scotia
ABOUT US
WEIR ROCKIN is a non-profit, volunteer-based community group, formed in conjunction with the Springfield Lake Recreation
Association (SLRA) in Middle Sackville, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The committee consists of staff and board members of the
SLRA, District Councillor Brad Johns, as well as several volunteers with specialized backgrounds lending their expertise to
various aspects of the proposed annual event.
The committee was formed in November 2006, at which time we launched a
feasibility study to see if the community would support the idea of a new outdoor event – namely a big rock concert.
Our idea was to invite a big name in Canadian music to headline our show, and that everything else would fall into
place. April Wine was our first choice as their music has spanned several generations and they were sure to be well received
by all.
We approached April Wine in early 2007 and they were very receptive to our offer. At this point we made the decision
to proceed with the event and signed the band.
Since then we have been full speed ahead with planning, selling sponsorship
packages and recruiting new volunteers and gaining support each day.
Our intention is to have a high-quality event that the
community will not only enjoy, but also be proud to host - this year, and in the years to come.
ENJOY THE CONCERT!
